Jack’s story in the 2014 Interval House Gratitude Report was inspired by the artwork of the children living at Interval House. Telling the story of Interval House through Jack’s eyes, the report highlights some of the transformational life events that families like Jack’s experience when they stay at Interval House.
Interval House
A former child resident of Interval House, Amanda shares how Interval House helped her and other kids break the devastating cycle of violence. Amanda was a child who lived at Interval House in 1982. After getting her college degree and becoming an author, she returned to Interval House to help women and children with a dramatic arts program based on her children’s book, Gifts.
As she leaves Interval House with her twin year-old sons, a client shares her experience at the shelter.
Kids at Interval House are adjusting to a strange environment. Most are used to being on high alert and very cautious to avoid an explosion of violence. Our kids programs give them the chance to just be kids.
