Violence in an intimate relationship can happen over time or in an instant. Have you detected any of these signs of abuse?

  • Physical abuse against you or your children such as slapping, hitting, punching, pushing, shoving, choking, etc.
  • Striking with any kind of weapon/objects
  • Emotional, psychological and verbal abuse such as degradation, humiliation and gaslighting
  • Threatening language or intense displays of rage in disagreements
  • Isolation and confinement including attempts to control or prevent your relationships with others
  • Financial abuse including withholding money, preventing you from working, or destroying your credit rating
  • Sexual assault/rape
  • Disregard for welfare of children
  • Physically harming family pets

If you see any of these signs of abuse in your relationship, contact our crisis line immediately. This is not an exhaustive list of abuse tactics.
