“Wired for Women – the new Interface of Interval House” explores all the new features on our new website.

In a sense, prominent newspaper columnist Michele Landsberg and Interval House came of age together. Back in the early 1970s, Landsberg was a trailblazing writer tackling then-controversial issues such as women’s rights and domestic assault. Hers was, too often, a lone voice in the wilderness trying to bring public exposure to the problem of violence within the home, which for too long had been hidden behind closed doors.

It was a natural fit: the pairing of Canada’s oldest women’s shelter with one of the country’s most established hotels.

The Fairmont Royal York has generously supported Interval House since 2000 with everything from homemade gifts from staff, toy drives, Mother’s Day meals and makeovers for Interval House’s residents to volunteer support, donations like bedding and furniture for the shelter, and space for Interval House receptions.
